Competitions and Waves

This Past Weekend

Was full of adventure and competition for me…well competition watching, at least.

I went to my first climbing competition and was a belayer, on Saturday. I also got to see my brother place 4th in the College Longboard Division at the NSSA East Coast College Championships, on Sunday.

Adam not only placed 4th, but was the highest ranking surfer, for the UCF (University of Central Florida) Surf Team (who placed 5th as a team), and won the Southeast/North Conference Point Title, for Longboard , in 2012/2013.

The past few years

A longboarder from FIT (Florida Institute of Technology) had essentially been untouchable, until this season. That being said, you could say Adam is considered to be the 4th best longboarder in competition on the East Coast.

This weekend helped Adam secure his sponsored trip, by Ron Jon Surf Shop, to the NSSA Nationals with a few other members of the UCF Surf Team, in June. When Adam started the season, he mentioned that he just wanted to be the team’s longboarder and make it to Nationals. I guess he did just that and pulled a few tricks out of his sleeve in the process.
